Tattoo Removal FAQ
How does it work?
Laser tattoo removal is designed to produce one or more specific wavelengths of light in short bursts. When you direct this laser beam at tattoo ink, the light passes through the skin and is absorbed by the ink. The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to break into tiny particles that are then removed by the body’s natural filtering and immune systems. The tattoo will fade gradually over a series of treatments.
Depending on the tattoo and other factors, the average number of treatments range between 5-8 for full removal. All treatments are spaced 6 weeks apart, allowing your body time to remove the distributed tattoo particles from your system.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the treatment will depend on the size of the tattoo, the placement and the ink colours used which will determine the number of treatment. We offer safe and affordable treatment packages with prices starting from $80. In order to get a tailored quote, simply book in for your free, no obligation consultation with us today.
How many sessions will I need?
On average, tattoo removal take between 5 and 8 treatments. Things such as colour, type of ink, skin colour, location, and age of tattoo, effect how many treatments you will need. When you come in for a consultation we can look at your tattoo and review all of this with you.
Will laser cause scaring?
Most of the time no, but 99% of avoiding scarring is being compliant with after-care instructions. If you are not compliant and develop a blister it could cause scarring.
Does it hurt?
Your laser tattoo session can cause some slight discomfort, depending on your pain threshold and the location of your tattoo. We utilise a localised chilled air cooling treatment with a continuous flow of chilled air before, during and after your laser session, in an effort to minimise any discomfort. Most clients find this more than adequate and do not need any additional numbing cream. On that note, numbing creams can be sourced from chemists or prescribed by your GP and may help to bring the pain level down to that similar to the original application of the tattoo. Talk to your local pharmacist to find out what brands they stock and recommend.
What can’t I do after my laser tattoo removal treatment?
Limit the amount of physical activity that you do and sun exposure for the first 24 hours. If the body gets too over heated it can cause the tattoo to blister. Lukewarm showers using mild soap must be taken.
